Bold claim: Kai Trump is stepping into the spotlight as a stand-alone contributor for a high-profile golf broadcast next weekend. The presidential granddaughter and a recent University of Miami golf commit will join the Optum Golf Channel Games as a special contributor, bringing her perspective to a live primetime event.
The tournament is promoted as a live, primetime TV experience featuring star players Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler leading two four-man teams through a variety of unique challenges. At 18 years old, Kai Trump will be involved in challenge tutorials alongside commentator Johnson Wagner and will take part in the trophy presentation.
McIlroy’s squad includes Shane Lowry, Luke Donald, and Haotong Li. Scheffler leads a team with Keegan Bradley, Sam Burns, and Luke Clanton. The competition comprises five events: the Timed Drive, Timed Short Game, 14-Club Challenge, Timed Shootout, and the Captain’s Challenge.
Keith Mitchell, a current PGA Tour pro, will serve as an analyst alongside veteran Golf Channel host Steve Sands, who will handle play-by-play duties. On-course commentary will be provided by Smylie Kaufman, Brad Faxon, and Johnson Wagner, who will offer live insights and player interviews throughout the event.
The venue is Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida, which could mean a possible appearance by Kai’s grandfather, Donald Trump.
Kai Trump has been visible in professional events before, sometimes sharing the course with her golf-enthusiast grandfather. She recently made her LPGA debut at the ANNIKA Driven by Gainbridge event at Pelican, where she earned a waiver to compete. Representing the University of Miami, she opened with an 83 (13-over) and improved to 75 (5-over) in her second round, though she did not advance to the cut.
Viewers can watch the Optum Golf Channel Games on Golf Channel and USA Network on December 17 at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
