To access this new tool, simply navigate to your Phone app's Settings. Under the Call Assist section, you'll find a dedicated menu for Call Recording. It's a straightforward process, but there's a catch - you'll need to download some audio files first. Don't worry, Google provides a clear guide on how these recordings are stored on your device.
When you're on a call, a new Call Assist menu appears, right next to the Audio Emoji feature. With a simple tap, you can initiate the recording. There's even a countdown and a notification message to inform everyone on the call that the recording has begun. A subtle red dot near the call duration serves as a reminder that the call is being recorded.
After your conversation, the Call Recording appears on the Home tab, complete with a microphone icon and an M3 Expressive audio player for easy access. In the Settings, you have control over the recordings. You can choose to automatically delete them after 7, 14, or 30 days, or opt for the 'Never' option to keep them indefinitely. There's also a handy 'Delete all recordings now' feature for a quick cleanup.

This feature allows you to automatically record calls from unknown numbers or those not saved in your contacts. Additionally, you can create a custom list of numbers that you want to automatically record.
The Call Recording feature is compatible with Pixel 6 and later models running Android 14 and above. This includes the Pixel 9+ series, even those without AI-powered Call Notes. The update is rolling out with version 198+ of the Phone by Google app.
And this is the part most people miss - the November 2025 Pixel Feature Drop brings another exciting addition. Call Notes, which include transcription, summaries, and next steps, are now available in Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, and Japan.
