Arsenal have extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table with a convincing 3-0 victory over Sunderland. With Manchester City's match scheduled for Sunday, Arsenal has now moved nine points clear of Pep Guardiola's side, thanks to a largely routine win at the Emirates Stadium. This result also sees Arsenal nine points ahead of third-placed Aston Villa, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Bournemouth on Saturday.
The Gunners' victory was sealed by a fine strike from Martin Zubimendi just before halftime, breaking the deadlock from just outside the area. Zubimendi's goal followed his previous goal against Leeds last week. Declan Rice also came close from a similar range, but Zubimendi was afforded too much space, and his effort beat Robin Roefs, going in off both posts.
Arsenal started the second half nervously, but Viktor Gyokeres came off the bench to settle the match. He scored with one of his first touches and then rounded off the scoring in stoppage time, showcasing his recent improvement in front of goal.
